Bishop Ikeakor urges Christians to live by teachings of Christ

The second session of the fifth Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Amichi has ended with a call on Christians to go back to the Christian status as strangers and pilgrims in the world by living according to the teachings of Christ.

The Bishop of the Diocese, the Right Reverend Ephraim Ikeakor who made the call at a Synod thanksgiving service of the Diocese held at Saint Peter’s Anglican Church Umudim Amichi, Nnewi South council area said that the theme of the synod was aimed at reawakening the consciousness of being heavenly minded in believers in Christ.

Bishop Ikeakor while listing some of the growth and developments in the Diocese in the past one year thanked God for leading them so far and disclosed that the Diocesan School of Midwifery is to take off November this year, noting that the School of Nursing Sciences of the Diocese has done its matriculation and capping where seventy-six students matriculated as well as second graduation ceremony of the college where forty-three students graduated with exceptional results.

He called on the Federal government to critically look into the hardship and insecurity in the country, regretting that things are falling apart in every sector as according to him, the country is driving towards a failed nation if notting is done urgently .

Speaking on behalf of other Bishops present, the Bishop Anglican Diocese of Aguata, the Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, thanked Bishop Ikeakor for his effective Episcopal work in the Diocese and for reminding Christians that they are strangers in the world through the theme of the synod, describing him as a blessing to Amichi and humanity.

Earlier in a sermon, a guest preacher at the synod, Evangelist Nnamdi Eze who spoke on “the importance of the Holy Spirit to strangers and Pilgrims” dwelt extensively on the works and fruits of the Holy Spirit as well as the benefits to christians.

In their separate speeches, the Archdeacon of Amichi West Archdeaconry and Vicar of the host church, Venerable Sampson Ikedinma and the Chairman Local Organizing Committee, Sir Alex Ezeike thanked God for a successful synod and urged the delegates to take the message of the synod to their respective churches for effective implementation as the theme of the synod is apt to Christianity in a time like this.

Those present at the synod thanksgiving service include Governor Chukwuma Soludo and wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, traditional ruler of Nnewi Igwe Kenneth Orizu and his Akwaihedi counterpart, Igwe Cornel Onebunne, Bishops of Abakiliki, Diocese, the Right Reverend Monday Nkwoagu, Bishop of Mba-ise Diocese, Right Reverend Chamberlin Ogunedoand that of Zakibiam Diocese, the Right Reverend Jazil Vande, among others.

The synod thanksgiving service featured cutting of synod cake, thanksgiving, prayer for
