“Be role models to your Daughters”, Okeke-Ogene tells Ndigbo Women

The President of the Apex Igbo Socio-Cultural Organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Anambra State Chapter, Ichie Damian Afam Okeke-Ogene, has charged the Women’s wing of the association and all mothers to live by example and role models to their daughters.

He as well appealed to then to watch the kind of company their female children keep, noting that Igbo women were known for decency, moderation, and forward thinking .

Okeke-Ogene who stated this at the Ohanaeze Ndigbo State Secretariat, Awka while addressing the women wing during a re-orientation forum enjoined the womenfolk to lead a life worthy of emulation. He said that he would not support mothers who were aiding and abetting immorality, indecent dressing, waywardness in the name of modernity.

The State President of Ohaneze Ndigbo urged them to remain symbol of positive change in the society to reflect the culture and tradition of Ndigbo.

Chief Okeke-Ogene noted that women are fundamental in building a progressive and sustainable society as they are not only pillars of various families but also backbone of Communities, State and the Nation.

He urged them to discourage their children and wards from indecent dressing. Social vices and ostentious lifestyle while joining hands with their husbands to curb all excesses to reduce stressful life for families.

Chief Okeke-Ogene stressed the need for them to remain humble and submissive to their husbands to maintain peaceful and stable families and commended their outstanding conduct that distinguished them from others.

He restated the resolve of the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo never to compromise the status and image of the organization for any reason or in any form in the drive to achieve the Igbo agenda.

Okeke-Ogene who is the Chairman Board of Trustees of ASATU admonished Ohanaeze women wing to uphold the culture and traditions guiding womanhood and adhere to those things Igbo women were known for, emphasizing that he was impressed with their level of comportment, commitment and steadfastness.

According to Ohanaeze Ndigbo Anambra State President, the chapter were adjudged by Ohanaeze Ndigbo National body as the most peaceful, organized, accountable, and progressive chapter
in the seven Igbo speaking states, stating that the achievements recorded by the chapter were enormous and visible.

He called on Lady Rose Ekwenibe led Ohanaeze Ndigbo Women’s wing not to relent in their onerous task of being and remaining a role models to their daughters and fellow women, advising them to remain focused and determined.

Earlier the secretary of the chapter, Chief Mike Nnakwuzie and the administrative Secretary of the chapter, Mr. Luke Onyekaonwu appreciated the women’s wing for their dexterity, perseverance and all they had done for the chapter.

Responding the State Women’s leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Women’s wing, Lady Rose Ekwenibe thanked Ichie Okeke-Ogene and his executive for their support and guidance. Lady Ekwenibe took her time to shower encomiums on the Ohanaeze Ndigbo president, describing him as a father, counsellor and a leader.
