Bangladesh Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Mr Tazul Islam has commended the Founder, Nike Arts Gallery, Mrs Nike Okundayo, for promoting Nigeria’s arts and Culture.

Islam made the commendation on Monday when he led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Gallery in Abuja.

He expressed excitement over the way artists used recycles to make art work, saying that such feat would strengthen bilateral engagement between Bangladesh and Nigeria in area of arts and culture.

“Nigerian art shows the history, culture and lifestyle of its country and people. This is very attractive and fantastic because they are using the recycles to make all these art works,’’ he said.

In her remarks, Okundayo urged the Federal Government to partner with more countries to invest in the nation’s arts and crafts.

“I’m appealing to the Federal Government to help and support the artists. After the country, we will say arts and culture.

“So, the more they showcase our arts, the more many of the people who like to help Nigeria will come and invest in Nigeria in a recycle way.

“All plastics you are seeing here are recycled and Nigerians in creativity can do anything with their hands and turn it into money.

“So, we need our government to partner with more countries so that they can help the arts society.’’

According to her, this waste to wealth is creating a job for the youth. A lot of graduates in the country cannot get a job.

“So, they are now using recycles to make a scorpion and all these arts works I’m wearing. They are all from trash and now they are creating a job,’’ she said. (NAN)
