Awka Community PG Distributes Food Items To Indigenes Of The Town

The President General of Awka Development Union Nigeria, ADUN,
Engineer Tony Okechukwu with the Support of the town’s traditional
ruler, Obi Gibson Nwosu, have supported indigenes of the town with
palliatives, to cushion the effect of the now easing lock down due to
Coronavirus pandemic on the people.


Correspondent, Kenechukwu Chukwudi reports that
the palliative items includes, bags of rice, cartons of tin tomato and
cartons of noodles were shared among the thirty three villages that
make up Awka, as Village Heads gathered at the resident of the
President General for their share, for onward distribution to the
people it was meant for.

Though the PG was unavoidably absent, other critical stakeholders of
the town union were present to ensure transparency and orderliness in
the sharing of the palliative items.

Speaking during the event, a member of the traditional cabinet, Mr.
Ifeanyi Enukorah, who supervised the distribution, said that the
gesture of the President General was a welcome development and further
explained that apart from the villages, the churches are also included in the intervention to attend to the needs of the needy among them.

A stakeholder in the town, Chief Jonas Ekwenugo, noted that Engineer
Tony Okechukwu has always been a man known for generosity, even as he commended Obi Gibson Nwosu for his support.

Others who spoke at the event including Chief Dennis Okoli, Mr.
Chukwumma Umeadi and Mrs Theresa Okafor, all expressed oy for
the gesture and remarked that the palliative will reach the people it
was meant for, advising people to always follow safety measures
against COVID-19 pandemic.
