Anambra Assembly orders Ministry to Monitor Projects Initiative In Communities

Anambra state House of Assembly Committee on Chieftaincy and Town Union Matters has charged the Ministry of Local Government and Town Union Matters to always monitor the projects being executed under the twenty million naira community choose your project initiative to achieve the desired result.

The Committee made the call when the key functionaries of the Ministry appeared before it to defend their 2020 budget estimate.
Speaking after the budget discussion, the Chairman, House Community on Chieftaincy and Town Union Matters, Dr. Pete Ibida described the budget defence of the Ministry as very satisfactory.


The Committee commended the Obiano administration for introducing the twenty million naira community choose your project initiative which it noted has opened a way for public participation in governance as communities are allowed to build project themselves according to their needs.

On his part, a member of the committee, Chief Emma Nwafor who noted that the project has brought development to hinterlands within few years, called on communities that are yet to execute their own projects to do so as the committee will soon embark on oversight at the one hundred and seventy nine communities in the state to see the projects they did with it.


In a vote of thanks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy and Town Union Matters, Mrs Vera Okonkwo commended the committee for doing a thorough job on the budget estimate of the Ministry, assuring that they will carry out their directive.
