On Monday, September 22, 2025, Chief Damian Ejiamatu Enekwechi, Chairman of the Anambra Patriots for Soludo (APS), was conferred with the prestigious title of Grand Patron by Chibuike Age grade,Ngodo . The honour positions him to serve in a fatherly capacity, offering guidance and support to the group’s mission and members.

Speaking with newsmen during the installation ceremony held at Ebede-ezi Umugbulu, Ngodo, Nise, the leader of the age grade, Mr Chukwukaeme Okonkwo, gave an insight into the reason for the honour.

‘When we began the journey to getting a grand patron, so many persons their names make waves here in our Ngodo village, our community Nise, and beyond, came to our minds, and finally into list.

Chibuike Age Grade, Ngodo Nise in Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State, have installed the Chairman, Anambra Patriots for Soludo, Chief Damian Enekwechi, Ejiamatu Nise, as a Grand Patron, to lead and guide them as a father.

‘From there, we started screening them, with particular emphasis on their lifestyles, to get one with proven integrity.

‘Then, after this the lot fell on High Chief Damian Enekwechi, Ejiamatu Nise, the big masquerade our village and Nise community, ji eje mba,’ Mr Okonkwo said.

‘Since we know him, we haven’t heard story about him dragging anything with any person unlike numerous prominent personalities in Nise who engage in either land grabbing or one other negative practice.

‘So, there was no negative attestation and testimony against him.

‘This informs our decision to choose him to be our grand patron and role model who would be advising us, guiding us, and protecting us as a father,’ Okonkwo said.

‘Happily, when we finally approached him with our request, for the post, he welcomed us and granted our request,’ the Chibuike Age Grade leader noted.

In his opening remarks, on behalf of the age grade, the leader thanked Chief Enekwechi, for accepting their request, and promised that they would strive to look up to him as a role model.

Responding, Enekwechi expressed excitement, and pledged to support the age grade, protect their interest within and outside Nise, and help them to be better persons in life.

‘I’m so happy to be here among you, my young brothers, and appointed as your grand patron.

‘You should understand what grand patron means; I’m not a member of your age grade, but an adviser, playing an advisory role as a father.

‘As a father, I will always give you correct advice.

‘Secondly, I promise you, as I’m your grand patron, you will not fall.

‘If someone intends to make trouble with you and he remembers that I’m behind you, he will have a rethink. But if he decides to do push you push me, I will support you to push him down,’ Enekwechi assured the members of the Chibuike Age Grade amid their thunderous applause and cheers.

He however advised them to always toe the path to peace, and shun all forms of negative behaviour.

‘But remember, I’m not saying that you should go out and begin to cause trouble because I’m your grand patron, no. If you do that, I will not support you.

‘But what I’m sure of, is that nobody will persecute you. In me, you have a father. I will bring you up to be bigger boys in all ramifications,’ Chief Enekwechi continued to assure them.
