Ansu Fati dedicates his goal to his brother

Ansu Fati was thrilled to score his first goal for Spain on Sunday night and to become La Roja’s youngster ever goalscorer, but Luis Enrique’s call-up did mean he had to miss his brother’s birthday.

As such, he ran over to a TV camera after he scored to fulfil a birthday promise.

“[The gesture with the camera] was for my brother,” the player revealed in a post-match interview.

“It was his birthday and I knew I wouldn’t be there for it after I received the call-up.

“He asked me to dedicate the goal to him if I scored.”
