Anambra State Government announces it is mapping out severe penalties for those who go against the laws guiding waste disposal in the State.

The Commissioner for Environment, Engineer Felix Odimegwu stated this while interacting with journalists in Awka.

According to the Environment Commissioner, the state government has abolished the system of open collection and dumping of refuse and has also commenced house-to- house waste collection, as a way of taking responsibility as well as caring for the environment.

Engineer Odimegwu listed reckless and uncontrolled excavation, deforestation, bush burning as well as burning of waste as those behaviours the ministry is committed to putting an end to.
