Anambra Youths Storm Ekwueme Square, Mark Candle Light Procession

Youths in Anambra state yesterday evening gathered at the Doctor Alex Ekwueme Square , Awka to mark a peaceful candle light procession in solidarity with the on ongoing call for a better Nigeria

During the solemn event, the youths took turns to pray for the repose sons and daughters of the country who met their untimely deaths in the hands of the disbanded SARS operatives.

They also used the medium to call on the government to urgently attend to their demands which are anchored on reforming the country for a better living condition for all.

Priests including Reverend Father Jude Banabey were also on ground to pray and advise youths on the need to remain peaceful and looking up to God for a total emancipation and turn around of events across the country.

The leader of Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing in Anambra State, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu said the youths were agitating against bad leadership, oppression and the unlawful killing of innocent citizens.

He cautioned the youths to remain peaceful and law abiding as well as resolute in the struggle for a better nation for all.

The candle light memorial night offered some family and friends of victims of police brutality the opportunity to pray for a peaceful repose of their loved ones even as they called on government to urgently address their demands.
