The Anambra Beach Soccer Association (AnBSA), says the State Team, popularly called Anambra Warriors, are ready for the first round of the Nigeria Beach Soccer League.

Emmanuel Nsoedo, Secretary of AnBSA , said this while addressing the Moonshine Residents Headquarters of the association in Nnewi on Thursday.

Nsoedo said the competition which was billed for Kebbi State would hold between April 10 to April 13.

He said Beach Soccer was taking root in Anambra with a standard pitch in Nnewi High School that would be capable of hosting any team from anywhere in the world.

“We are going to Kebbi State to win.

“We will use sports to address the vices in society by making them positively engaged and reducing idle time,” he said.

Nsoedo, who presented the team to the media, said Anambra had been given the right to host the second national beach soccer competition in May this year.

The association also planned to float a Beach Soccer league in Anambra while calling on government and private sector firms to support and invest in the game.

He said the existence of Beach Soccer in Anambra was wholly private sector driven, adding that government support would grow it and make players in the state enjoy from the opportunities.

“We plan to float the Anambra beach soccer league soon because, we need competition to bring the best out of our boys.

“As part of our developmental programmes, we are going to take Beach Soccer to primary and secondary schools, though, we are not getting a fare share of government funding for now,” he said.
