Anambra Police Vow to Thoroughly Investigate Viral Complaint Video

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has announced that the police will conduct a comprehensive investigation into a viral video showing alleged unprofessional conduct by officers in Onitsha.

This is contained in a press release made available to newsmen by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Tochukwu Ikenga SP for Anambra State Police Command

According to him,”The CP stated that both the officers directly involved and their supervising officers will be held accountable, emphasizing the Command’s commitment to maintaining discipline and professionalism within the force ¹.

“This move demonstrates the police Command’s zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct and corruption, as previously seen in cases where officers were detained for extorting citizens. In June 2025, three police inspectors were detained for allegedly accosting and extorting a member of the public during a security patrol.
