Frontline PDP Aspirant for the upcoming Anambra State Governorship election, Dr. Ifedi Okwenna, has stated that the incoming PDP Government will propel innovation and entrepreneurship through planned support and implementation of creative ideas that will generate value and increase revenue at affordable costs. He said he will exploit the innate abilities of Anambra youths and guide them to innovate, massively generate employment and create wealth for themselves and for the state.
Dr. Okwenna stated this at meeting with selected Njikoka Local Government youths and Stakeholders held in Abagana. The Ugwumba Osumenyi frowned at increasing urban migration, urban poverty, decreasing affordable housing stock and lowering standard of living in the State. He showed displeasure on increasing migration of youths from across the State to Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi which exerts a lot of pressure on the limited infrastructure in the cities. He further bemoaned the age long linear development of the communities in Njikoka Local government and the inability of Government to build internal roads to connect the contiguous communities to make for easy networking and effective traffic management.
While announcing to them his aspiration to govern Anambra state, the former Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Mineral Resources, Science and Technology explained his 5 core objectives and 26 innovative plans for Transformation of Anambra State. He informed the youths of his intention to make Njikoka, the hub for his proposed, state-of-the-art Tech Hub campus. The Tech Hub according to him will contain an innovation center, e-business center, global solution center, and global e-support center.
The Ugwumba Osumenyi, said the package will also include developing
a. A digital-technology curriculum that is recognized globally which will provide participants with valuable skills and accreditation and
c. Commence Foundational training to Anambra State Youths (200,000 citizens over a 4-year period) that will boost their short- and long-term capabilities to attract more employers. This according to him will also provide them with better jobs, attract new investors and like-minded innovators to their localities to create a virtuous circle of prosperity.
Dr. Okwenna informed the youths that through this, the Local Government and indeed most part of the State will benefit from complimentary infrastructure upgrade which include enhanced internet access, improved power systems, and advanced technology laboratories as his government will in partnership with the private sector acquire internet broadband network that will serve the State and enhance smooth delivery of ICT facilities in the State, creating in the process the State owned subscription- based MINI and NANO sims for creation of cheap, efficient and accessible MIFI internet model for the State.
The highly cerebral Aspirant, promised to end the age-long linear development of Njikoka towns along “ezi-oyibo” by opening up internal roads to link up the contiguous communities with each other and with Dunukofia, Aniocha communities and with Greater Awka capital city. Dr Okwenna said the enhanced infrastructure development, provision of improved services within, dualization of some connecting roads and developing efficient inter and intracity transport systems linking Awka, will make the Local Government assume its rightful role as Satellite towns to the Awka Capital and providing space for expansion and population overflow from the inner capital city. This will reduce the infrastructural and housing pressure in Greater Awka city.
Speaking at the meeting, a youth activist, Hycenth Egwudike, commended Dr. Okwenna for his preparedness to take the mantle of governance of the State. “You’re the only Aspirant who has the experience and has shown thorough understanding of the challenges of this State and has mapped out the ingenious and innovative plans to solving them”, Mr Egwudike stated. While promising to give him his maximum support, he called on the youth of Anambra State to adopt Dr. Ifedi Okwenna as their candidate, work for his emergence at the PDP primaries and to his winning the November 6, Governorship elections in the State.
