Anambra NUJ Election: Why Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu?

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council, Comrade Ejike Abana has called on members of the State NUJ to choose for effective change in the union’s upcoming election, for the good of all.

The ABS Chapel Chairman made the call through the Secretary of the Committee, Comrade Chukwuemeka Modilim, when one of the candidates for the Chairmanship position of the State Council of NUJ, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, visited ABS Chapel of the NUJ to present his manifesto.

Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that Comrade Abana encouraged members of the union to consider future  of the State NUJ in mind while choosing who pilots their affairs in the next three years.

He described Dr Odogwu as a seasoned journalist and a teacher; who has continued to mentor many in the field of journalism and beyond.

Earlier, the candidate, Dr Odogwu said he is out to revive the State Council of the union, and promised to run an all-inclusive leadership that will benefit all, if elected.

Dr Odogwu said that he will resign if he does not bring needed change in the union within one year of his tenure, and promised local and overseas training and retraining of journalists in the State, even as he promised to ensure professionalism among members under his leadership.

Contributing, the Director of News and Current Affairs Department of the ABS, Mr. Gab Okpalaeze, emphasized the need for transparency and fairness in the forthcoming Anambra State NUJ election.

The event featured question and answer session, during which members of the Chapel asked questions based on their expectations from the next Chairman of the Anambra State Council of the NUJ.
