Anambra NSCDC deploys 951 personnel For Eid-el-Fitr Celebrations

The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Commandant Maku Olatunde, has reportedly deployed no fewer than 951 personnel across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state to ensure hitch free Eid-el-Fitr celebration

Maku made this disclosure to newsmen Monday through an Operational Order issued to all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers (DOs), heads of formation and tactical units, instructing them to ensure sufficient security coverage and peaceful conduct of the Sallah celebrations in the state.

According to him, proactive and robust anti- crime measures, including deployment of tactical and intelligence assets of the command are already in place to prevent any untoward incidents in and around the state.

” To ensure that Muslims in the state have a hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, the command has mobilized operatives to cover all nooks and crannies of the state, which include Eid praying grounds , recreational centres, and other public places.

” The essence of this deployment is to ensure that miscreants and disgruntled elements do not take advantage of the occasion to perpetrate criminality” he said.

The NSCDC helmsman urged residents in the state to be vigilant, observe security and safety tips, as well as collaborate with NSCDC and other security agencies to avert any breach of peace in the interest of the state.

He enjoined groups and individuals not to engage in any act capable of breaching peace in the state.He also warned criminal elements disturbing the peace in the state and making life unbearable for residents, would not have a field day any longer.

According to the State NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Edwin Okadigbo, the Commandant advised the public to quickly report any suspicious object (s) or movement of persons through the following emergency numbers: 08036172748, 0806 3501618 for prompt response.

While congratulating the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, the NSCDC Anambra State boss in line with the celebration called on them to show love , trust, respect for one another and internalise the lessons learned during the Holy month for peaceful co-existence in the country.
