Anambra lawmaker, 28 others admitted into knighthood

Enugu, Nov 18, 2020 (MOI) No fewer than 29 candidates have been admitted into the Order of the Knights of St. Mulumba Nigeria, an Order in the Catholic Church.

One of the candidates admitted include, the Member representing Ihiala 1 in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Chidi L. Udemmadu and wife.

Others include Brothers and Sisters Ikwueme Odinaka Ferdinand, Madichie Udegbunam Christian among others.

The investiture which took place recently during a Holy Mass, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Independence Layout, Enugu, attracted various high profiled personalities in the Order as well as across the country.

It was gathered that the Order of the Knights of St. Mulumba Nigeria (KSM) was established in Nigeria on June 14, 1953 by Late Reverend Father Abraham Anselm Isidahome Ojefua; a Priest and Monk from Illah in present day Delta state and modelled after the Sacred Order of Catholic Knighthood.

Only practicing catholic men and their wives are admitted, as membership spans all cadres of professionals such as Government Administrative Officers, Teachers, Lawyers, Businessmen, Professors, Engineers, Bankers, Doctors and other professionals in all strata of the economy.

The Order performs various charitable works to members of the public, both Christians and non-Christians alike.

On a regular basis, members both individually and collectively visit hospitals, the needy, prisons and render diverse support to religious houses such as building of churches, and religious projects, donations to orphans, disabled, and old people’s homes, training of clergy, donation to convents and monasteries and giving generously towards development of various places, in addition to fraternity within the order.

The Order counts on its members, men and women who diligently use their Treasures, Time and Talents their education, social position, and fight a good cause with success for the greater glory of God, the Church, Mankind and the progress of our country.

Performing the investiture during his homily, Rev Fr George Nze-Mmuoba charged the candidates to guard and protect the interest of the Catholic Church and foster a Catholic Conscience and Outlook in their respective communities.

He enjoined them to express a perfect Christian life among members and sustain the work of evangelization with a view to gaining more converts to the Church.

He further advised them to deploy their rich talents in serving in the Lord’s vineyard, and become a role model in winning more souls for Christ.

On his part, the Worthy Metropolitan Grand Knight of Onitsha Metropolitan Council, Sir Boniface Orakwe, charged them to uphold integrity and righteousness in seeking the face of God.

Brother Orakwe admonished them to work harmoniously with their various religious and societal leaders in ensuring lasting peace and unity in the church and the society at large.

The newly admitted knights took an oath of humility and honesty in serving God and humanity.
