Anambra: Jubilation as former market leader, Obinze, re-elected chairman

Traders at Bridge-Head Market Onitsha, Anambra State was jubilant as their former president general, Mr. Sunday Obinze was  re-elected to lead the Market for another four years.

In the election which took place at Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association, ASMATA, Secretariat Office, Modebe  Avenue Onitsha, Anambra State returned Mr. Sunday Obinze unopposed with 241 votes.

The election which option A4 system was adopted, commenced shotly after delegates who casted votes was  thoroughly accredited and supervised by the Electoral Committee Chairman Anambra State and zonal Leader ” ASMATA” Onitsha, Hon. Sam Emeka and Hon. Sunday Nwasa who represented Commissioner for trade, Markets and Commerce, Hon. Uche Okafor.

Other Exectives returned unopposed alongside Mr.Sunday Obinze include Mr. Sunday Aniagbaoso–1st Vice president 210 votes, Mr. Muolokwu Syvester–2nd Vice president 178 Votes, Mr.Dan Egbeigwe–General Secretary 193 Votes, Mr.Mike Umezuluike–Vice Secretary, Mr. Emma Obunzo–Financial secretary, Mr. Benjamin Chikwuo-(PRO), Mrs Ngozi Okolo–Wellfare officer, Mr. Emma Ekwelo–Assistant well fare, Mr. Sunday Onwuasoanya, Mrs. Nkoli Onyeanwusi and Mr. Vitus Nwanolu were provosts respectively.

In his victory speech, the elected president general, Mr. Sunday Obinze expressed delights a the peaceful conducts of the election and eulogized traders for re-electing him and his exectives, pointing out that re-electing them showned that they did  well in their first tenure.

He poured accolades on Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Uche Okafor and Chief Ikechukwu Ekwegbalu stating that without their approval, the election could not have conducted. He also praised the line Chairmen and delegates for their matured behaviours during the election, promising to do more work  and re-double his efforts in lifting the Market to an enviable height.

Speaking, one of the stakeholders in the Market, Chief Ignatius Agbalizu affirmed that the election was free. He advised the new executives to do more works  for the traders and urged those who are jostling for leadership in the Market to exercise patient with the new executives so that after four years, they could contest for the Market election.

Similarly, the Chairman of Drug Market Bridge-Head Market, Chief Donatus Ajama stated that the victory of Mr. Sunday Obinze was a victory of a righteous Man, urging those who had been spending money in filling litigations to rest and safe their resources or use it for Chareity.

In their separate speeches, Hon. Sam Emeka and Hon. Sunday Nwasa lauded traders for maintaining absolute tranquility during the election, reminding them that they came to observe their election and the election which the witnessed was satisfactorily.
