Anambra Govt intends To Create State Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Hub At Ogboji

The state government has concluded arrangement with the people of Ogboji Community in Orumba South Local Government Area for two hundred hectares of land for the proposed Anambra State Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Hub.

The proposed pharmaceutical manufacturing hub is said to house over one hundred pharmaceutical companies, school of pharmaceutical, among others.

Addressing the people of Ogboji Community, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, who led the state government team on inspection of the two hundred hectares of land said that the project will on completion provide Ndi Anambra and entire Africa with quality drugs and serve as the major supplier of pharmaceuticals in the continent.

Commissioner Obidike used the opportunity to call on youths in the area to support the state government on the project which he pointed out will provide job opportunities to them and other youths in the state.

On his part, the Commissioner for Lands, Professor Ofonze Amucheazi, who said that the project is for progress and development of the community and Anambra State in general, adjudged the site as perfect, assuring Ndi Ogboji that the project will soon kick off and be completed in due time.

The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Medicals and Pharmaceuticals, Dr Godwin Nnadozie explained that the project is designed to be the first of its kind in Nigeria and best in Africa, noting that on completion, the pharmaceutical manufacturing hub will forever emancipate Anambra State from poverty.

In their various speeches, the traditional ruler of Ogboji Community, Igwe Festus Iyioku, the traditional prime minister, Dr Ken Anyacho, President General of the town, Prince Epundu Emechebe, and Mayor of Orumba South Council Area, Prince Sunday Uchendu, thanked the state government for citing the project in Ogboji, assuring the total support of the community to the world-class project and the Soludo led administration. Speaking, the youths vice chairman and Chief Security Officer of the town, Mr. Ogochukwu Uchendu, who stood in for their chairman, assured the unalloyed support and security of the project both during, before and after completion.
