Anambra Govt improves healthcare delivery with 60 Mid-wives

The Anambra State Government has improved the quality of healthcare delivery with the recruitment of sixty Midwives across different healthcare facilities in the state.

They said that the recruitment was part of the government’s efforts to increase the level of manpower and alleviate sufferings of the people towards in gaining quality healthcare services.

This was made known by the Executive Secretary Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Chioma Ezenyimulu during a second Media round table organized by the The Challenge Initiative and Devcoms in awka, Themed: “Improving quality of service delivery in PHCs.”

Ezenyimulu represented by Dr. Frank Umeh, emphasized that thorough trainings and orientation were carried out on the newly recruited mid-wives to checkmate their competency in rendering quality medical services.

Ezenyimulu also stated categorically that 60 primary health Care centers is currently undergoing renovation by the state government as there has been upsurge in demand for service uptake in family planning services in primary health care centres across the state.

Also, Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, decried the unnecessary extortion of issuer fee at the health centers across the state.

Okpala who was represented by the Director of Public Health and Disease Control Anambra state, Dr. Uche Onyejimbe, stressed that access to family planning in the state is free as basic health care provision fund is made available for the consumables needed.

He warned that disciplinary sanction will be activated to any defaulter, who may be found extorting money from citizens.

Contributing, the Director of planning, research and statistics, Mrs. Edith Nwachukwu harmonized the issue of high cost of drug fee at various health centers, which she said will be duly handled.

She assured citizens that consistent aggressive media campaign and sensitization will be activated to enable parents as well as youths, know the need for accessing family planning, regardless of religion proposition.

The said the state government had also taken to considerations in creating a disabled friendly environment at various PHCs, so that family planning will be accessible to all.

Lending their voices, the Media Practitioners called on Anambra state government to hasten employment of more staff in Primary Health Care centers in the state for effective healthcare services.
