Anambra Govt Hands over Modern Laboratory Equipment to General Hospital Enugwukwu

Yesterday, the 26th day of August, 2022, Anambra State Government through the state Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA ) handed over laboratory equipment provided for the General Hospital, Enugwu-Ukwu.

Some of the machines provided by ASHIA included;

1. Automated Chemistry Analyzer

2. Automated 3-part Haematology Analyzer

3. Electrophoresis machine for genotype test and

4. 7.5Kva solar power system for the lab.

Speaking, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike while commissioning the equipment stated that health insurance remains the best form of healthcare financing and urged all Ndi Anambra to take such advantage seriously.

” These are very expensive machines with the latest technology provided by ASHIA. The more people enroll in Health Insurance, the more funds are pooled to provide better services to the enrollees.”

Dr. Obidike urged Ndị Anambra to maximize the opportunity provided by ASHIA to access the best healthcare services as that is the vision of Prof. Charles Soludo’s administration.

On his part, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of ASHIA, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi stated that the scheme provided the equipment through ASHIA innovative financing model; A model of using excess pooled funds from the insurance to provide better services to the enrollees.

” The equipment worth over 10 million Naira; Latest technology in Chemistry Analyzer to test liver function, Haematology, and Electrophoresis for genotype testing.”

The result of the test provided by the machine can not be altered anywhere in the world because they are the latest technology.

Dr. Onyemaechi also stated that with the installed 7.5kv solar power system provided by ASHIA, the lab will be functional everyday. 

In his vote of thanks, Dr. Ifeneme Frank, CMD of the General Hospital, noted that the equipment will help boost the services provided by the hospital. He observed that Enugwu-Ukwu and other communities around and indeed Ndị Anambra will benefit from the services.

Anambra State Insurance Agency has through Innovative Financing provided latest technological equipment worth millions of naira to various accredited hospitals under the scheme.
