Anambra Government Bans Construction Of Speed Bumps Across The State, Says Existing Ones Will Be Removed
The Anambra State Government has announced a statewide ban on the construction of speed bumps on public roads, declaring the practice a punishable offence under the laws of the state.
Speaking during a road inspection, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arc. Okey Ezeobi, said many speed bumps are damaging roads across Anambra, adding that the government has commenced plans to remove existing ones.
The Commissioner warned individuals, communities, and organizations against constructing speed breakers or speed bumps on public roads without authorization.
The announcement has sparked mixed reactions online. While some residents welcomed the decision, others argued that speed bumps have helped reduce accidents on several roads across the state and fear that their removal could lead to an increase in road crashes.
