Anambra Empowers 50 Youths with shovels, etc
Governor Willie Obiano’s government has trained and empowered Fifty (50) youths with equipment of their various skills .
The youths were drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state. They were trained on cosmetology, bakery and concessionary, tiling, web designing and computer operations among others.
The Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Mr Bonaventure Enemali said the intervention was in line with Governor Willie Obiano’s promise to empower ten thousand youths every year in the state. He noted that government has trained and empowered two hundred and fifty youths during the first phase and another fifty youths have benefited in this phase of empowerment.
Mr Enemali noted that government focused on the areas of beneficiaries’ specialization to enable them learn it properly, use the equipment and train others.
The Commissioner disclosed that Governor Obiano is youth friendly and has anchored his 2019 budget on youths’ growth and empowerment which according to him is the first in the history of the country.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Stephanie Karie-Uzor extolled governor Obiano for the gesture which she said no administration had done, saying that focusing on the youths is more
important as it will take them off the street and engage them meaningfully, advising the beneficiaries to make proper use of the equipment, ensure it is safe so as to serve them for a long time.
Chioma Okoli, Kosisochukwu Osili and Chisom Nmor, who benefited from the scheme appreciated the governor for channelling the minds of the youths towards usefulness.
