Anambra Community Lauds Soludo On Road Infrastructure, Seeks More Interventions

The President-General of Nibo Town Union, Professor Tony Nwokoye has expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the ongoing construction work at ring road-Isiagu junction-Ukwu Orji road with a spur to Oye Nwochichi Nibo road.

Professor Nwokoye who expressed his appreciation while inspecting the project said the road is one of the six roads the previous administration awarded in Nibo community but it was abandoned for years until the Soludo administration came into power and remembered the road.

At Achalla Oji road Nibo, where workers were seen carrying out earth work, the President -General explained that sometimes last year, erosion threatened the road so much that it was almost cut in two and Nibo Town Union wrote to the state government which heeded their call and came to intervene by carrying out palliative work on the road.

He added that at the directive of the government a drainage channel with box culvert has been constructed there noting that the drainage channel is standard but expressed worry that the termination of the drainage channel is so abrupt without proper discharge point and if left that way will pose a terrible danger to people’s lands and houses in the surrounding areas which would be flooded when rains set in.

The President-General appealed to the state government to come and look into the situation adding that it will be better if the drainage channel is extended to terminate at Ngene Ovie river which he said will also go a long way to safeguarding people’s lands and houses in the areas as well as prolong the life span of the entire road

Professor Nwokoye also called on residents of Nibo community to take full ownership of government facilities in their area.
