The Anambra State Commissioner for Industry, Hon. Obinna Ngonadi, Tuesday, at Panac Industries limited, Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area, Anambra State, commissioned an Export-Based processing facility.

Speaking during the commissioning, the Commissioner reiterated that the State Government would assist industrialists to export their products overseas without encountering any problems.

“We thank the owner of Panac Industries limited, Mr. Chinedu Aniagboso, for achieving this feat of providing Export-Based processing facility and we will help in standardization of his products and others so that anywhere you see the products you know they have our support.

“We encourage people who want to set up industries to come to us for assistance. We work in collaboration with Standard Organization of Nigeria, SON, and Export Promotion Council, to make sure our products carry made in Anambra, as brand,” he stated.

Earlier in his speech, the President of Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, ONICCIMA, Chief Kevin Obieri, said that the commissioning came at a time Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, was desirous of attracting investments that would not only result in local Direct Investment,( LDI), but also create employment within the State.

“As the voice of Organized Private Sector, we are pleased to offer this great initiative by one of our Council members, Panac Industries limited, first in the whole of the Southeast region.

“Exports are one of the critical economic indices and foreign exchange earning sources that have not been fully explored in Nigeria, especially for a state like Anambra that has all the potentials to do so from every consideration.

“We see this initiative by Panac Industries Limited as a welcome development and a practical example of what we we need to do to earn the much desired foreign exchange and ease the constant pressure on the naira and the usual difficulties experienced in finishing our imports,” he further explained.

Contributing, the secretary of Onitsha Main market, comrade Obi Ifediorah, said that all efforts were being geared towards the economy going from consumption to production.

He hinted that the owner of the industry, Aniagboso, is his Assistant Secretary at Onitsha Main market, pointing out that such an industry is what the country needs to better the economy.

“We need this kind of industry in this country, from consumption to production, like Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential candidate said. We have seen the result of the movement of the industrialist daily, going to North to negotiate for his business.

“This is a plus to Nigerian economy, the industry is something to emulate, a big achievement and we will take the message to Onitsha Main Market,” he stated.

In his response, the owner of the industry, Chinedu Aniagboso, said that Export-Based seed processing on Soya beans and every other seed processed here is for export.

“We have been exporting since last year but we go to Northern States to procure the seeds for export.
After a year we decided to install our processing plant here so that when we get the raw seed from the North, we process it here and sell outside the country. Inside the factory we have already processed seeds waiting for export,” he stated.

On challenges confronting the industry he said they were two, bad roads and lack of security which also affected movement on the roads as transporters charge more to transport from the North to Onitsha as a result of insecurity on the road.

“Within the cluster of industries at the site, Panac Industries limited is the only one that put up palliative work on roads within and it has gulped a lot of money. We urge the State Government to assist us by rehabilitating the road that leads to Panac Industries limited, he pleaded.
