Anambra Assembly Speaker Felicitates With Obiano On UN Award
The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uche Okafor, has interpreted Governor Willie Obiano as a local, national and worldwide achiever, as well as a great proponent of decent governance.
Felicitating with the Governor on behalf of the State Legislature on his recent award by the United Nations as Champion of Sustainable Development, Right Honourable Okafor expressed satisfaction that even the International Community has noticed the developmental accomplishments of Governor Obiano, hence the award on him as a development champion.
The Speaker enumerated some of Governor Obiano’s achievements to include building of three standard flyover bridges in Awka, Anambra International Airport, International Conference Centre, International Stadium, massive road construction, regular payment of workers’ salaries and pensions, adequate security of lives and property of the citizenry, as well as classic rural development through his Community-Chose-Your-Project Initiative, among other human and infrastructural developments and accomplishments.
He noted that the International development award given to Governor Obiano has really uplifted the image of the State and called on the citizenry to continue to support the lofty programmes of the present administration.
Right Honourable Okafor advised Ndi Anambra, especially the political class, not to see the forthcoming governorship election in the State as a do or die affair, but to join hands with Governor Obiano in ensuring peaceful coexistence among the citizenry.
