Mr Godwin Ezeemo, an aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Anambra Governorship election, has urged the party’s delegates to shun money-bag politician and elect the one capable of ending poverty in the state.

Ezeemo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday on Awka, that all the people need is a person that has visible sustainable developmental projects in Anambra as a way to chase poverty and bring about even growth.

He said that the PDP delegates should vote for an aspirant who has lived with the party policies, worked hard to build sustainable party structures and not money bags who join the party for election purposes.

Ezeemo said that the delegates should consider aspirants who have supported the development of the party over years and not aspirants who is well known for buying votes.

“Vote buying should be discouraged, it is a political cancer, delegates should vote for aspirants who can change the narrative, vote for someone who is grassroot-based, who is very accessible, and can shun money politics.

“I am the only aspirant in PDP who has maintained over 40 PDP offices across the state, I have donated vehicles worth N20 million and other facilities.

“I have also assisted in the economic development of the party over the years and partnered the party to maintain working offices amongst others,” he said

Ezeemo appealed to the delegates not to be swayed by empty promises, but should vote for him as that PDP member who has sacrificed a lot for the substance of party structures over years with ideas on how to tackle  underdevelopment.

He urged the delegates to vote for him for verifiable projects he has on ground and assured that if he picks the party ticket, hardship would be a thing of the past.

“I have mapped out modalities to harness the natural and human resources available in the state for optimal growth and development,” he said.

He said that the party should encourage internal democracy through a transparent leadership skill where aspirants should be treated based on their efforts to develop the party structures and compliance with the party rules.

Ezeemo urged the party leadership to see this electioneering campaign period as a moment of refurnishing the party with solid political ideology that would build a manifesto to be reckoned with in areas of good governance.

“Anambra stakeholders agreed on zoning formula for its governorship elections under the leadership of former Governor of the state, Mr Peter Obi, therefore, PDP should live up to that rule to entrench equity and fairness,” he said .

Ezeemo said that the PDP primary election is scheduled to hold on June 26 but lamented that the party is now characterised by policy crisis based on zoning and advised the leadership to openly support the decision. (NAN)
