Amanuke P.G Election: Community worries over demand of result, insists Odogwu be issued certificate of return

Angered by the delay in announcing result of the President General,
PG, election held four days ago, some stakeholders from Amanuke community in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State yesterday besieged the office of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieyftaincy Affairs,Hon Tony Collins Nwabunwanne at the government house Awka calling for the Certificate of Return of Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu who they affirmed won the election of the community.

Led by prominent leaders in
Amanuke, including Chiefs Chukwujindu Nwoye, Ephraim Nwafor among others, they stated they have come to ascertain what is holding the result of last week PG election held at Union primary school Amanuke.

Nwoye recalled that Simon Orakwe who contested the election with Odogwu Emeka Odogwu had one and half lines while Odogwu Emeka Odogwu had three lines, insisting that it is a clear indication that Odogwu clearly won him in that election, saying that they are in Government House to collect Odogwu’s certificate of return.

Lamenting how Amanuke came this debacle, he said, “While the electoral officers were still working to give us results, Simon Orakwe’s group started making unnecessary noise, destroying some items including the community sign post.

” I was personally there calming them down because we want peace. We are pleading to the State government to come to Amanuke to see things themselves

“What Simon Orakwe did to us that made us say that he will not go for us is uncountable and I will not mention them now. ..that there’s no electricity in Amanuke today is their fault because they are in the habit of hijacking any government in power.

In seperate interviews, group backing Odogwu and known as
“New Face of Amanuke, Odogwu 2026” , also led by Chief Chukwuemeka Mmekwe, Ozo Echetamma 1 Amanuke and Akaekpuchionwa 2 Amanuke, urged the Anambra State government to give Odogwu the certificate of return having pulled the highest number of votes.

In his reaction, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Tony Collins Nwabunwanne thanked the people, promising the hois office will look at events that happened at the venue critical make finding public soon

“All our findings in the pictures and videos will be made public, he assured”, even as he commended Amanuke people both home and abroad for coming out in large numbers to cast their votes

It would be recalled that Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu PhD, the Anambra State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ emerged winner as the new PG of Amanuke Development Union, Amambra State, polling a total of 576 votes to defeat his rival, Hon. Simon Orakwe, who garnered 532 votes in the keenly contested election.
