Alor Traditional Ruler, Igwe Okonkwo Celebrates 3rd Ofala Festival

The traditional ruler of Alor in Idemili South Local Government Area, Igwe Mac Anthony Okonkwo has celebrated his third Ofala festival and thanksgiving ceremony in grand style.


Ofala celebration has over the years grown to become one of the biggest traditional festivals in Igbo land.

According to Igwe Okonkwo the third edition was aimed at Thanking God for His Mercies and lifting of his suspension by the Anambra State government.


The traditional ruler reassured that his administration will sustain peaceful and harmonious coexistence in the community, and appreciated the people of Alor for keeping faith and supporting him while assuring his willingness to advance the course of the community.

Igwe MacAnthony Okonkwo called on the agents of destabilization in the community to sheath their sword and embrace peace and unity for meaningful development.

The traditional Prime Minister of Alor, Chief Benneth Udeze stressed that peace remains the panacea for sustainable development, and urged the community to align with their Traditional ruler in achieving his mandate.


Earlier in an address, the chairman, Alor people’s Convention Caretaker Committee, Mr. Chris Okudo narrated the positive development in the community, and thanked Governor Obiano for reinstating the traditional ruler.


Speaking at the event, a woman Leader, Mrs. Maryann Chikodili encouraged the people of the area to be steadfast and stand firm on the path of truth and prayed for those in leadership to be guided by divine wisdom.

In their separate speeches, Chief Ephraim Agubalu and a Cabinet member Chief Chukwuemeka Ikegwuonu said Igwe Mac Anthony Okonkwo, has attracted progress to the community.

Other speakers include Sir Alex Ufondu and former APGA Chairman in Idemili South Local Government Area, Chief Ifeanyi Mba, who expressed gratitude to the Governor for recognizing the traditional ruler, and called for transparency in the community affairs.

The Ofala featured the conferment of Chieftaincy title on the member representing Orumba North and South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly Dr Okwudili Ezenwankwo.
Cultural dances also featured at the event.
