Alor community enthrones new monarch

The controversy surrounding the Igweship throne of Alor community in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State appeared to have ended with the coronation of a new Traditional ruler. 
The new monarch Igwe Evang. Collins Ebele Chukwumesili, Ezedioramma III of Alor was a businessman and former President General(PG) of Alor People’s Convention now known as Alor People’s Assembly(APA).

The crowning ceremony came shortly after the incumbent PG of APA, Chief Uzoma Igbonwa declared Chukwumesili the Igwe-elect, having been selected by the Uruezeani village whose turn it was to select a new Igwe.
According to Igbonwa, “The new monarch was unanimously elected by Alor people after due process and having fulfilled the Alor constitutional requirements in accordance to Sections 17 of Alor constitition. Our new traditional ruler will replace the late Igwe J. C Nkwoka”.
 The crowning was performed by Chief Edwin Ezeoke, the oldest Titled man from Okpalo kindred, Uruezeani village, Alor, in the presence of the Ofor holder, Regent in council, Idis, Ichies, highchiefs, Nze na Ozos, Okoros.
Before his coronation, the new monarch was handed the ancient native  traditional staff of office (Ofor) by the Ezeofor VII of Alor, Ichie Gibson Onyekonwu.
It was jubilation galore as Alor people expressed joy that a right person has just mounted the Igweship throne, contrary to the imposition of the suspended Elibe Mac Anthony Okonkwo.
Meanwhile, Alor community in their last general meeting had earlier passed a vote of no confidence on Mac Anthony Okonkwo after a motion by Chief Ifeanyi Obiazi(Ichie Idee III of Alor).
The Motion for Vote of No Confidence on Chinedu Okonkwo states: “because he has brought Alor Community to ridicule, disrepute and public disgrace. 
“PG, the video Chinedu Okonkwo was seen in a compromised position and counting bribe-money has gone viral. I am very ashamedand the Government of Anambra State has suspended the self-styled Traditional Ruler for his misconduct.
“I base my MOTION FOR VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE on the gross misconduct of Chinedu Okonkwo, the findings and recommendations of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council and Anambra State  Government’s action suspending him.
“Also, Mr President-General, Mr Chinedu Okonkwo has acknowledged his misdeeds against the Government of Anambra State and Alor people through his stage-managed televised apology to the Governor of Anambra. 
“In that apology, he never apologised to Alor people for his gross misconduct. Therefore, Mr. President I request that my MOTION FOR VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE on Chinedu Okonkwo be debated and put to vote”, said Ichie Obiazi.

The Motion for Vote of No Confidence was seconded by Barr. Mrs Ngozi Udodi.The Alor general Assembly meeting later passed a vote of no confidence thereby rejecting cum depositioning of Elibe Mac Anthony Okonkwo ensued.This action initiated the process of constitutionally selecting a new monarch over the weekend.
Moreover, The Minister of Employment and Labor, Dr. Chris Ngige said that peace had returned to Alor urging the State government to recognize the new monarch since he is Alor people’s choice.
” For seven years now, Alor people have been thrown into quagmire because of the imposition and recognition of the self styled Mac Anthony Okonkwo on Alor throne by both past and present state government administration”, he said.
Meanwhile, Executive Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on projects, Sir. Ebuka Igwe Esq. said that the long court cases were coming to an end assuring that Alor community would be great again.
“Vox populi vox dei, Akpokuedike has listening ears and has interest in community development. With the turn of events I know he has more information than we do before endorsing the recommendations of the Anambra Traditional Rulers Council on erring monarchs. Alor people believe that His Excellency will consider the voice of the masses”, said Ebuka Igwe.
Moreso, Chief Emeka Ofonwa said:” with the ousting of the impostor and enthronment of the chosen monarch-Igwe Chukwumesili unity, progress and development will once again return to Alor London”.
Alor Woman PG, Mrs Grace Nwoye said that God has finally answered the prayers and cravings of Alor women and people pleading on government to recognize the people’s choice.
In their separate speeches, Chief Goodwin Nwoye(Ichie Enyi), Dr. Carl Nwudo Odenigbo(Dikeora Alor), Chief Emma Ojukwu, Chief Igwe Benson, Alor Youth Vanguard (AYC) National Coordinator, Ezeigbo Elvis, AYV Board Secretary, Hon Silas Okudo(Onyeamuma) all expressed happiness that Igwe Chukwumesili has all it takes to stir the leadership course of Alor community to greater heights.
In his remarks, Igwe Chukwumesili said he was full of joy that Alor people saw worthy of being their monarch promising that peace and the fear of God will characterized his reign.
