Alcohol poison claims one life in Delta

A nineteen year-old girl, Nwite Nnenna Perpetual from Ebonyi State, has reportedly lost her life after drinking a mixture of methanol and cocktail during the celebration of her boss’s birthday party in Delta State.
The incident happened on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
Late Nnenna is a staff at Octave restaurant and lounge,Asaba and a student aspiring for Mass communication in Dennis Osadebe University, Anwai Delta State.
An eyewitness who was later known to be her roommate, said the Late Nnenna did not drink the mixed alcohol that day.
According to her, “They released methanol in the cocktail and Favour, our cashier brought it out, as the camera captured her, everybody started cheering her and the following day, Perpetual now drank it and the thing started reacting on her body.
“She did not disclose the reaction early, but was after two days that she opened up when the damages had become worse. She was taken to hospital on 29th April being Thursday, but received not much care. She was only given a drip, the following day being 30th April, she gave up the ghost.
In honor of her death, a candle night was organized by her family, friends and classmates on June 7, 2025, at her place of residence in Awka-Etiti, Anambra State.
Her parents are already making plans to move her body to their village for her funeral.
