Al-Makura @67, aging examplary with legacies beyond challenges

The disables, destitutes and families that natural circumstances made them under privilege in the society,at some level, Al-Makura was the reason for their hope that like any well to do,they have cloths,food and access to social amenities.

From birth, a child to any family is a gift,that nighter do the parents or the child with knowledge of what the future holds.

Some parents, are the reason for the success of their children,through access and opportunity they have,while other children of the less privileged, growing up and making earns most have to do with hardwork, discipline and self realisation.

Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, from an averagely privilege home,from the family of late Alhaji Abdul Kura, a businessman from Lafia,young Umaru Tanko ,had both experienced of hardwork, discipline and self discovery.

His quest for knowledge,greatness leading to his early realisation, did not depend on his father’s associries,but subjected himself to western education ,culture and teachings,today Umaru Tanko Al-Makura in our contemporary society is a household name.

Life started up for young Umaru ,as gathered when he was a teacher,to the time he secured appointment with the Nigerian Television Authority(NTA) where he later left public service to joined politics and was elected under the defunct NPN,as state youth leader in early 80s in the then plateau state.

Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura was elected as member of the constitutional assembly and having this background of political success,took a break and delved into private business and had Al_Makura Nigeria Limited a registered company that was into agriculture and other live worthy ventures including estate management.

At this point it was obvious that the elusiveness of growing up has been define through visible succession records of young Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

To cut short some records of attainment for want of space,today the senator representing the good people of Nasarawa southern senatorial zone of Nasarawa state ,after a successful tenure of 8 years as the third elected executive governor in the state is 68 years from birth.

Dr ,senator Al-Makura is a man with deep knowledge to any endeavour he delved into,a passionate leader ,whose common thinking about leadership has always been surrounded by a craved to developing and paving ways for the advancement of his people,the state that can add value to national growth.

At two scores and above half ,his years way back as a growing child ,student ,public servant and now as a politician has been eventful.Al-Makura ,all through the opportunities that comes his way has been times for him to exhibits knowledge, accountability, pragmatism in view of policies and Programmes that stand as a legacy for others to emulate.

He was sworn in as governor of Nasarawa state on 29th May 2011,after he defeated the incumbent governor,Late Dr Akwe Doma.

Senator Al-Makura was a member of the PDP when he first contested the primary,along other aspirants,but was however denied fair participation and because providence had put a smile on his dream of becoming the governor of Nasarawa state ,did not allowed the dream to be killed by sheer influence of incumbency,had to decamped.

He quickly joined the then newly registered CPC and upon his entrant ,he secured their ticket as the party governorship candidate,which gave him the chance to ran for the general election and was elected overwhelmingly by electorates.who did not disappoint him but ensured they vote out the PDP by quing behind him,the votes that culminated to his becoming the governor ,sworn in on May 29th,of 2011.

Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura who took over the mantle of leadership at the age of 59 years, left government house Lafia ,when he turned 66 year with lot of legacy projects of human and economic development.Though as a mortal,his account can not be said to be without blames,while the public expectation on him was far above average,yet he made excellent input that near a hundred percent in infrastructure that are capable of attracting investments and human development.

Dr Umaru Tanko Al-Makura,bows out of government house Lafia ,but had another round of leadership through the will of his constituents,who elected him as their representative on the floor of the Nigeria National Assembly,red chambers, purposely for his contributions to the development of Nasarawa state .

He was honoured with a doctorate of letters by the Federal university of Lafia for facilitating and inputs in the constructions of major academic edifices.

The senator among top notchers of Nasarawa state and in Nigeria corridor of power live a life to his credit that was appreciated by many in the state for maximum utilisation of public funds towards deserved infrastructural Development which has today enabled investors who finds Nasarawa state a friendly business center

Al-Makura,as senator of the federal republic of Nigeria made an indelible record by sponsoring the bill that established the Disability Right Agency to charter for the physically challenge.

His humble background ,as a Gwandara ethnic nationality at 68 years, senator Al-Makura has created opportunities for different people,sectors that have today made living much more easier in terms of accessing social amenities in Nasarawa state.

A peep into some of his legacy projects reveals how examplary Al-Makura is ,beyond the challenges he encountered,his administration then has proved that he was born to be a pace setters, a leader and a father

While as governor, Al-Makura took over power at a time the state was faced with the problem of insecurity,he ensured that security’s formations in the state were operating in a conducive environment,thereby constructed police stations, fenced mobile police barrack,provided vehicles for operations, constructed a Helipad for the North central surveillance ,provided land for army barrack along Doma,donated a storey building to be used as the police command headquarters among others.

Acknowledging that his raise to stardom was through the instrumentality of sound education that shaped his life, senator Al-Makura made education free at primary and secondary level,the administration provided state of the art school buildings for all levels of education from primary to tertiary institutions.

The architect of modern Nasarawa state did not took for granted what could come from youth redundancy,as it is capable of infuriating crisis at slide provocations, engaged 4500 youths as community watchers, traffic assistants , environmental guards and sanitory inspectors via the Nasarawa state Youth Empowerment scheme (NAYES)

For these endless impact of senator Al-Makura,as life offers him,he has also transformed agriculture,instituted a more reliable justice system in the state ,ease up complications to acquiring land documents,that has added value to revenue generation in the state through NAGIS.

Before this 67 year senator was sworn in as governor, Nasarawa state was a slum,but today with over 200 kilometers Asphalt roads and drains citizens have had a relief from flood disasters that has left a lot of family homeless and lost of lives.

Above all , Nasarawa state with 24 years from creation has all the basic social amenities and an airport about completion carved out to served as a support to the Nnamdi international Airport Abuja,due to the state proximity to the FCT.

Dr, senator Al-Makura is a successful and fulfilled elder stateman at Sixty Seven years from birth,has also written his name with gold ink,his legacies,his selfless public service and thrust proves him a servant whose tenacity to make contributions that can further developed Nigeria an unquestionable drive and at i 67 years old he can,Happy birthday.
