AGN Unveils Junior Pope City Estate Enugu State
Thank you for your concern. Asking questions is not a bad thing, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify.
The Junior Pope Nollywood City & Creative Hub is not a profit-making venture and certainly not an attempt to use Junior Pope’s name for clout or commercial gain. It is a legacy project created to immortalize a colleague and brother who lost his life in the course of active service to the industry.
The land was provided to the Actors Guild community at a highly subsidized rate for the benefit of members, and the Guild is only making it available to its members. In fact, no member is allowed to acquire more than three plots, ensuring that the opportunity is fairly distributed among Guild members rather than becoming a commercial real estate enterprise.
For the record, when the project was secured and formally unveiled, the event was attended by the current National President, past President of the Guild, members of the industry, and most importantly, Junior Pope’s wife and family. During that event, three plots were officially allocated to three of Junior Pope’s sons as part of preserving his legacy.
If this were merely about using a face to market a product, there are many living and highly influential actors with larger followings whose images could have been used. This project bears Junior Pope’s name because of his immense contributions to the Guild, particularly in Enugu State, and because we believe his memory deserves to live on through something meaningful and lasting.
This is about remembrance, legacy, and creating opportunities for Guild members not exploitation.
Thank you.
