African Disney World In Oba, Anambra State

The Rojenny holiday village is a tourist resort in the town of Oba, Idemili south local government area of Anambra state, South-east Nigeria.

It is located on the outskirts of the commercial city of onitsha,along owerri-Onitsha expressway. This wonderful serene environment was discovered by an ambassador of Odogwu’s blog to be a centre for recreational activities, sight seeing, relaxation and of course a light to the path of the Igbo tradition and artefacts. It was founded by Chief Romeo Ezeonwuka since 1983. It’s landscape is about 8sq km.

The resort has a zoo with animals like monkeys, tortoise, rare birds like peacock, ostrich and reptiles like pythons. Situated in it is the museum of African ancestral religion which still has artefacts of deities which are pure replicas of the Igbo traditional culture. This shrine still forbids abomination, robbery, killings and other evil deeds. Some personalities still visits the place for the Omenani festival which comes up in June every year.

It has a traditional village setting called the Ozo village. It consists of small huts which is been used by firms and movie industries to set and shoot movies. For sports lover, there is the lawn tennis court, table tennis court, volleyball court basketball court and football pitch.

This environment is also spectacular for it’s cool arena thanks to the coconut and palm trees planted around. The relaxation palace is an open field with concrete chairs in place under the shade of trees. The atmosphere whispers peace, calmness and life all round.

The Rojenny tourist game village has an international stadium which was said to have hosted several continental football matches involving Nigeria. Rojenny has over 1000 capacity conference Hall, an amusement park for children and Olympic standard sized swimming pool.Paradise night club is also functional with rules guilding it’s operation in this glorification. Clubs like Nnewi United football and sporting club has their administration block in the environment.

This amazing holiday village is simply a wonderful place to be. It’s walkway path is beautifully designed with trees on both sides. It has coconut tress, palm trees, lots of artistic architectural designs and sculptures. It has left an awe impression on its visitors.

This wonderland covers all kinds of dishes. It has a classic restaurant,a shawarma and barbecue’s spot. These centers serves all indigenous delicacies as well as international dishes.They could also be hired to cook for any organization having program in the establishment. Meals here are usually fresh and delicious.

The paradise in Oba town has in built Nwaezorah’s lodge,that accommodate those that want to stay overnight. It has helped many especially those who are working on a project as it helps them avoid the dangers of late night journey and also it could be used by those that seeks private time with their partners. It’s wide field is could be used by schools and athletes for races of all kind. It has about 15 sections of spectators chair which is at vintage point from every view corner.

It is however disheartening that this African Disney world is gradually losing it glory and beauty due to poor maintenance and long period of functioning. Most equipments and facilities are either worn out or out dated and too old. The buildings needs remodeling and reconstruction to avoid a sudden collapse. The zoo on the other hand needs more animals. The spectators chairs in the stadium also needs to be repaired and modernized.

The park also needs more guards and workers who will oversee the affairs of everyone going in to avoid stealing of the equipment and fruit. There is also a need of tourguards to keep tourist company and help them understand the traditional setting of the place,and also for easy direction to their choice of spot. The guards will also checkmate wrong use of equipment to prevent damages. This arena would also need to be properly organized and kept clean. Indeed it will help to create employment opportunities for the youths.

The need to improve and standardize this holiday village facilities will go along way in creating awareness of such wonderland. It will also attract tourists from round the globe. Even students can go there to get familiar with Igbo tradition and ancestral deities which will help them in their projects.

The centers and halls will also be seen as ideal place for events and conferences. This setting could boost the image of the nation abroad and also promote economy development. Indeed the Rojenny holiday village will put the town of Oba in the limelight and develop her community both socially, culturally and economically.
