Newly elected flagbearer of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo, says his government will bring respite to many families in Anambra State.

He made the assertion while addressing ADC party faithful, Tuesday, at the Professor Dora Women Development Centre, Awka, the state capital, after he was declared winner of the ADC primary election and flag bearer of the party.

He said that his government would make the welfare of families in the state paramount and ensure that quality of life is delivered to the families across the state.

Nwankpo, who decamped from the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, after failing the party screening exercise, reiterated that his government would vigorously attack the causes of insecurity, including internal and external invaders whose activities he said truncate economic and social atmosphere in the state.

He said he chose ADC as a party to run the governorship race because of its sincerity in dealing with people, pointing out that ADC was a well-founded party with a man of integrity at the helm of affairs.

Nwankpo described Anambra as a unique state that would not be driven by the caprices of political parties and also maintained that ADC was the right party for him to pursue his firmly felt desire.

Addressing newsmen, the party national chairman, Chief Ralph Nwosu, said Nwankpo had keyed into the ADC pan-Africanist and global vision and also agreed to drive the making of Anambra the Africa, ‘Ijele’ [biggest masquerade in Igbo land] and the hub of commerce, research and innovation centre.

He said “the incumbent-successor derangements and demagoguery in Anambra state, which started with the usurpation of local government councils’ power, has incapacitated the grassroots administration in the state,” vowing that the party planned to give the state a new lease of life.

Nwankpo was elected unopposed as the 3,751 eligible party delegates, drawn from across the 21 local government areas of the state, were present in the party primary.
