Adamawa State Govt. Approve Extension of 50%Tax Relief, Appoints Tax Consultant

Moved by the plight of the people of the state is facing as a result of the Corona virus ( Covid19), the Adamawa state governor has approved the extension of 50% Tax relief for all sector and individual.

The tax relief which was approved by the state government was to end by 30th September, 2020 was extended to 31st December, 2020.

The Executive Chairman, Adamawa state Board of Internal Revenue Hammaadama  Njobari disclosed this in a chart with our correspondent in Yola.

The chairman further disclosed that because of the hardship being faced by the poeple of the state, small and medium scale Enterprise, the government approved the extension

The governor has also extended the waivers granted to motorist who have not renewed their vehicle particulars for the past years, stressing that they still have up to the end of year as grace.

“This relief and waivers has actually help us improve our revenue collection despite the numenrious challenges faced in the state and at the Federal level”

” Though, we will generate as much as we did last year but we believe , the rate of generation is far and above the expectation in the mist of the year 2020 challenges”

” I must tell you, this was made possible because of the good working condition we have and most importantly the various tax relief programs the governor has approved”

Alhaji Hammaadama Njobari also disclosed that in effect to sustain and improve the revenue generation base of the state, governor Ahamdu Finitiri has enaged the service of a renowned  Tax Consultant to help the state get the best in revenue generation.

He said the Consultant was engaged about two weeks ago adding that the firm will bring it’s wealth of experience to bear and advised on ways of improving our IGR.

He thanked the people of the state for complying and willingly paying their tax without being pursuied and we hope it will continue in the coming year.

It could be recalled that Governor, Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri offed specific Tax reliefs and deferral measure to support taxpayers in cushioning the effect of Covid-19 Pandemic.

The service granted its taxpayers an extension of deadline for filing Annual Income Tax Returns within 90 days from the commencement of every year of assessment (i.e. by 31 March of every year), Annual / bi-annual updating of vehicle particulars, among others but now has up till the end of the year.
