A Right Activist, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, has extolled the sterling impeccable integrity of INEC Returning Officer for Abia Governorship Election, Prof. Nnenna Oti, for standing for truth, justice and steadfastness.

Ezekwueme, who gave the commendation in Enugu on Saturday, said that Oti had done noble for ensuring the safeguard and protection of sacred mandate given to the Labour Party by the people of Abia during the Governorship and House of Assembly Elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Prof. Oti, the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Owerri, resisted attempts by some politicians to thwart the mandate given to the Labour Party Candidate, Dr Alex Oti, by majority of Abians.

Ezekwueme, who is also Chairman of Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) in Anambra, described Prof Oti as “an agent for positive change, instrument for truth, justice, equity and rare gift to humanity”.

“It is pertinent to note that electoral injustice is the foundation and harbinger of injustices, hence anyone fighting to eradicate it deserved to be appreciated and rewarded.

“I most heartily appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to bestow National Honour on Prof. Oti.

“It is of prime importance to note that her impeccable character is a beacon of hope to Nigerians and it has restored people’s confidence in the electoral process,” he said.

According to him, reward for excellent work is greater work, hence we recommend her for appointment as the next Chairman of INEC.

NAN reports that Prof. Oti, who is not related to Dr Alex Oti, the Abia Govenor-elect, had received several national and international accolades; while some people had decided to give her free-will donation worth millions of naira for her rare trait of uprightness. (NAN)
