Not a few children have dropped out of school because their parents are too poor to keep them in schools. As a result, in today’s Nigeria, millions of out-of-school children roam the streets during school hours. Others engage in child’s labour to earn money for their families’ upkeep. Being aware that poverty constitutes a huge barrier to many young people’s acquisition of basic and tertiary education, Engr. Jude Anyichie founded the Jude Anyichie Foundation.

The Foundation’s existence is anchored on the belief that education has the power to transform people’s lives and create a brighter future for all the people. Its goal is to identify, nurture, and empower young talents from all walks of life. It does these by offering scholarships and mentorship to the youths and helping them to have access to quality education.

More so, the Foundation offers them career guidance, leadership training rooted in service, and lectures on the benefits of their involvement in various community services. So it can be seen that the Jude Anyichie Foundation is moulding the personalities of the young people and empowering them with education to enable them realize their potential and become good citizens of Nigeria.

The Jude Anyichie Foundation has come of age. And the Foundation through its Future Leaders’ Academy has been conducting periodic programmes aimed at identifying talented young people, nurturing them, offering them educational opportunities, giving them leadership training, and sponsoring their visits to industries so as to bridge the gap between their theoretical knowledge and practice.

In August 2026, the Jude Anyichie Foundation under the auspices of the Future Leaders’ Academy organized a one month educational programme for thirty science-based students, who were preparing to enter Senior Secondary School III. During the programme, the students embarked on excursion tour of industries to learn how technology, knowledge, communication, and enterprise operate outside the classroom. The industries they visited were Ibeto Petrochemical Industry, Tiger Foods, and Ijele 93.1 FM. In addition to their visits to these organizations, they received one month educational tutorials.

Again, other activities outside educational tutorials and tour of industries were woven into the one month programme. For example, they had career day, during which counsellors gave the participating students teachings that would help them make the right career choices, which are dependent on their aptitudes for different subjects. And Dr. Charles Nonyelu, Acting Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu, shared insights with the students and encouraged them to think deliberately about their interests, educational choices, and future careers.

More so, not only were they taught that leadership was inseparable from giving services to people and communities; but they were also encouraged to engage in such community services as environmental cleanup exercises and others. Their minds were disabused of the notion that leadership is a function of a person’s lofty academic achievements and thriving career, too. There is no doubt that their understanding of the meaning of leadership will dictate and influence how they will wield power when they occupy leadership positions in the future.

Not unexpectedly, the students who performed creditably in the Future Leaders’ Academy programme, which was sponsored by the Jude Anyichie Foundation, were rewarded, handsomely. Aniekwe Chibuike Goodluck, who was adjudged the best student in the third edition of the educational programme, was given the princely sum of one million naira. The monetary reward given to him is for his educational pursuits. There is no doubt that the monetary gift given to him will spur him to take his educational pursuits more seriously.

And five other students whose performances were standout will be registered for such examinations as SSCE and UTME. The students were Ezeugo Chinagorom Jacinta, Ezeh Mariogerreti Ebubechukwu, Okolo Nzubechukwu Victor, Ezeodu Stella Ijeoma, and Oyekwe Emmanuella Chidimma. The recognition accorded to them for their outstanding performances during the one month programme will boost their enthusiasm for acquisition of knowledge and deepen their interest in education.

The founder of the Jude Anyichie Foundation, which helps young people to access quality education and participate in leadership training, is Engr. Jude Anyichie. A native of Nnobi, Anambra state, Anyichie grew up in the town of Nnobi. He trained in engineering and built an international career in engineering technology and business. His life philosophy, which undergirds the Foundation’s activities, is based on the belief that location should/cannot determine destination.

And lastly, the Jude Anyichie Foundation’s educational programme, the aims of which are bridging the gap between talent and opportunity, offering leadership and mentorship training to young people, and giving them career guidance have not gone unnoticed.
