Ojoto Rising Star Charity Foundation Trains 500 Youths and Women on Health, Safety and Lifesaving Skills

Over 500 youths, women, and community leaders are currently gathered at Ojoto Girls Secondary School, Afor Bulu Eke Hall, Ojoto community in Idemili South LGA, Anambra State for a 5-day intensive training on healthcare, Safety and Lifesaving skills.
The 2026 program themed ‘Health, Safety & Lifesaving Skills’ organized by Ojoto Rising Star Charity Foundation runs from September 8th to 12th, 2026, daily from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
According to the sponsor Dr. Emeka Cyprian Uzoh, after last year’s “Going Green” campaign that used agriculture for jobs, food security, and climate action, the Foundation is now tackling a more urgent need in homes and communities: Health and Safety.
“Last year we taught people how to grow food. This year we are teaching people how to save lives.Many deaths in our communities happen not because help wasn’t available, but because no one around knew what to do in those first few minutes. This training puts lifesaving knowledge in the hands of ordinary people.”said Dr Uzoh
Through practical demonstrations, age-appropriate materials, and interactive sessions, participants are being equipped to: 1. Respond in an Emergency by understanding Basic Lifesaving Skills, First Aid, Emergency Awareness
Secondly Prevent Harm Before It Happens like Poisoning Prevention, Choking Prevention, Home & Community Safety and thirdly, Live Well and Care for Others embracing Personal Hygiene, Healthy Living, Compassion & Responsibility

“2026 Message to the Community are
Learn to Save a Life., Learn to Protect Yourself, Learn to Care for Others,” said Dr Uzoh.
The duo of Chief Amaka Awogu who provided the program concept, planning, and educational framework and Mrs. Promise Okafor (Ajibo) who coordinated implementation in their separate speeches revealed that the 2026 program was a follow up of 2024 Ojoto Rising Stars Charity Foundation – Health & Safety Initiative where about 1000 children received similar basic life saving skills and healthcare training.
“In 2024, the Ojoto Rising Stars Charity Foundation (ORS), in partnership with the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Anambra State Branch, and with the support and leadership of HRH Igwe Gerald O. Mbamalu, Eze Ojoto III, embarked on a landmark community health initiative in Anambra that trained approximately 1,000 children in basic lifesaving skills. Through classroom instruction and practical demonstrations, the children learned essential skills, including CPR, first aid, and choking awareness and response.
“Recognizing the need to reinforce these lifesaving lessons, especially amid growing health and safety concerns in our community, the Foundation decided to introduce a refresher program in 2026.
This year’s initiative is sponsored by Dr. Cyprian E. Uzoh (Ichie Ifeghelu Ojoto).
“Under the theme “Health and Safety,” the 2026 program expands beyond the previous lifesaving training to give children broader, practical knowledge they can apply in everyday life.
The program focuses on:
• Basic Lifesaving Skills
• First Aid
• Personal Hygiene
• Poisoning and Choking Prevention
• Health and Safety Awareness
Learning is delivered through hands-on activities, practical demonstrations, interactive sessions, and age-appropriate educational materials, allowing children not only to hear about safety but also to practise, understand, and remember what they have learned.
“At the heart of the initiative is a simple belief: when children have the right knowledge and practical skills, they become more confident, safety-conscious, and better able to make a difference in their homes and communities,” they said.
Moreso, the Ojoto Rising Star Charity Foundation says it will take this model to other communities across Anambra in 2027 while Community leaders at the opening commended Dr. Uzoh for investing in people, not just projects.Beneficiaries described the sessions as practical, timely, and life-changing.
