Anambra Police Conducts Arms Drill, Boosts Officers’ Operational Readiness

The Anambra State Police Command has participated in a specialised arms drill and operational readiness exercise aimed at strengthening the tactical competence and preparedness of its personnel. The exercise, held on Sept. 8, was conducted under the supervision of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Miller Gajere Dantawaye, who oversees the Police Supervisory Zone comprising Anambra and Enugu States.
According to a statement issued to journalists in Awka by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the exercise was designed to enhance officers’ weapon-handling skills, operational discipline, teamwork and compliance with established tactical and safety procedures.
The participating personnel engaged in practical drills covering safe weapon handling, arms drill, coordination, discipline and strict adherence to prescribed operational procedures. The exercise also emphasised precision, controlled responses, professional conduct and compliance with safety standards in the deployment of police personnel and equipment.
Speaking on the exercise, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, commended AIG Dantawaye for the initiative. He described continuous professional training and development as essential to improving operational effectiveness and promoting responsible policing.
The CP urged officers and men of the command to apply the skills and competencies acquired during the exercise to their field duties, while ensuring strict adherence to the law, Force policies and established Standard Operating Procedures.
CP Oji Ama further reaffirmed the command’s commitment to building a disciplined, professionally competent and operationally prepared workforce capable of responding effectively to emerging security challenges and protecting lives and property across Anambra State.
