CP NNANNA OJI AMA TAKES OVER AS ANAMBRA CP, Promises Stronger Collaboration, Safer Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command on Sunday, August 10, 2026 announced the assumption of duty of CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips as the 33rd Commissioner of Police in the state.
CP Ama takes over from AIG Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD who retired after his recent promotion to Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
A native of Ekata, Edda LGA, Ebonyi State, the new CP holds a http://B.Sc in Psychology from the University of Jos. He is a career officer with over 30 years experience in intelligence, investigations, tactical operations and command.
His last posting was as CP, Intelligence and Training, Force Intelligence Department, Abuja. He has also served as Area Commander, Nnewi, DCP General Investigation FCID, and PPRO Rivers State.
CP Ama assured residents of his commitment to consolidate existing security gains and strengthen collaboration with security agencies, traditional rulers, youths and communities to make Anambra safer for businesses and residents.
