Anambra NUJ Praises Moment FM Chapel, Oko, Seeks Partnership

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra state Council led by Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu PhD has praised the leadership of Moment FM Chapel of the union at Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State for following due process always.
Odogwu who spoke recently after an election of the leadership of the chapel called for emancipation of negative vibes as journalists are known as conscience of the society,not lapdogs.
“Let me use this opportunity to thank every member of the chapel on your support during my re- election.
He encouraged them to hold a meeting once every month in line with the constitution and to hold power accountable always.
Those elected include Comrade Ugochukwu Onuigbo as Chairman , Okafor Vincent as Vice Chairman , Ukenu Ndukwe E as Secretary ,Unaegbu Christian A as Treasurer among other positions to be filled later.
The newly elected Chairman, Comrade Ugochukwu Onuigbo in his acceptance speech thanked the members for electing him and others to serve the Nigeria Union of Journalists in the capacity .
“I will represent you outside here .It is true that at times one may attempt to run one man show as a result of some slabs here and there but I want to appeal we will single out as much as we can to cover all gaps .
” We have started attending state Congress and I want to appeal to us to increase our number so that the state information chapel will not be challenging us and to our students thank you for coming , we will continue to train you for you to train others.

NUJ urges Mass Comm Department
At a courtesy call to the Department of Mass Communication of Federal Polytechnic Oko, the union Chairman, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu PhD JP asked for a partnership between the union and the department for the good of the department and Moment FM Radio.
In his reply ,the Head of Department (HOD) Mass Communication Federal Polytechnic Oko Dr. Ben Obiora assured the partnership with the union will be looked into.
According to him, ” I am proud of you, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu PhD, and your leadership. I was there during your first tenure election with Mr Abuchi Onwumelu ,I came and voted for you. And during the second term election, I voted for you and I will continue to vote for you if need arises.
“I am proud of you for several reasons , you people may not know
You are able to prove to people, members that you have all it takes to be the chairman of NUJ Anambra state council.
” Members of NUJ in Anambra and beyond are aware the things you have done because you will live a very big shoe that any one coming after you will look for a shoe mender.
” We are proud of you and we are encouraging you because what you are doing today is preparing you for greater things ahead, You may not know. keep it up ,posterity will remember you.
“Also we encourage your team because all of you are together. as a team . History will remember all of you .Be you vice chairman ,Secretary, Treasurer or assistant, whatever..’
“He is the leader and no leader works alone,give him the support.

ASUP Chairman, Oduah Passes Confidence Vote On Rector
This is coming as the Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP ) and Dean Information and Communication Technology of Federal Polytechnic Oko,
Barr. Fidel Maduabuchi Oduah said that the institution under the leadership of Dr Chioma Irene Awuzie leads, others follow as she has even processing 2027 staff promotions.
Oduah, gave the hints during a visit by the members of executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra state council led by Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu PhD JP.
,Oduah assured NUJ of partnership and expressed happiness the new Rector already started work in some of their moribund projects such as Sports club, Hotels among others projects in the institution.
” I congratulate the new chairman of the chapel, Comrade Ugochukwu Onuigbo. He is a very hard working and disciplined staff.
That is the reason all the Head of departments and Deans always like to work with him
He praised the Rector. describing her as a 21st century Rector adding that: ” Honestly, she has made my job so simple , Very easy I can now go to bed with my two eyes closed . Did you know what it means to be the chairman like the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics ( ASUP) and how stressful it is ?
” She has made everything lighter by taking care of everything like promotions. In fact I can tell you now that what we are doing now is 2027 promotion not 2026 . That is where we are now. We are on the lead and I am one of those doing the assessments, that is one of the things we are talking about.
“See our edifice here ,it was almost moribond now she has resurrected it ,sports club , water all those that are almost dying has been resurrected. I think she is doing wonderfully well . I am happy working during her time.
“By Gods grace , ASUP under my leadership /watch must strive that someone within is going to occupy that position and it is going to be boost for other people.It is not easy. The next rector will also come from here. He said.
Earlier, the NUJ Charman, Comrade Odogwu had urged him to partner with the union as well as to attend our monthly meetings as a member because decisions are taken at Congresses.
Odogwu commended Oduah for the meteroic rise having known his struggles but he kept his eyes on the ball.
” You are a testimony that determination and ruggedness pay in life. I am not surprised because as a student you came selling summarized books that we were reading, going to class by class asking permission to speak, but today, you are now the authority yourself. You have conquered your environment and taken lead to become a Dean and a union leader. God’s unfailing grace always.
