Christians across Nigeria under the auspices of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN on Sunday prayed for bereaved families, displaced communities and survivors of violence across Nigeria in what was tagged “Black Sunday”.

The Church leaders described the day as a reminder that the human cost of insecurity can no longer be ignored.

CAN has already endorsed community policing, calling on churches, schools, hospitals and mission institutions to strengthen internal safety protocols and improve emergency preparedness.

The observance of Black Sunday has amplified the voices of millions grieving loved ones lost to violence and insecurity.

According to platforms online CAN sees Black Sunday as not only a call to prayer, but a call on government for action as well as a reminder to our nation that democracy cannot thrive where fear reigns.
