Anambra State Government Suspends Consultant, Divine Rapture Company Limited Over Excesses
The Anambra State Government has suspended the contract of a consultant, Divine Rapture Company Limited, saddled with the responsibility of monitoring and reporting illegal activities within the oil and gas value chain.
The Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Professor Charles Ofoegbu, who announced this in an interview shortly after a meeting with selected members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), said the suspension remains valid until all the parties involved agree on acceptable and transparent modalities.
While affirming that the ministry has a responsibility to oversee every arm of the petroleum industry in the state, Professor Ofoegbu unveiled the ministry’s plan to jointly organize a stakeholders’ meeting with IPMAN, involving the Ministry of Environment and the Anambra State Inland Revenue Service, where all the lingering issues among the various sectors will be addressed.
Speaking, the Executive Chairman of IPMAN, in charge of Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, parts of Kogi, Abia, and Imo states, Mr. Chinedu Anyaso, said they came in respect of their protest letter to Governor Chukwuma Soludo against the excesses of the consultant, Divine Rapture Company Limited, and expressed joy that their deliberations were fruitful.
Mr. Anyaso assured of their readiness to work harmoniously with the state government, and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in particular, towards enforcing stipulated guidelines.
