Power Outage Brings Academic Session to Abrupt End.

A joint program organized by the Prisoners Rehabilitation and Welfare Association (PRAWA) and the Faculty of Social Sciences (FOSSA) at Nnamdi Azikiwe University was disrupted due to a power outage. The event, which targeted postgraduate students and lecturers, aimed to discuss issues of justice, security, development, and correctional services.

The program began with an opening prayer, national anthem, and school anthem. Prof. Michael Ezenwa introduced the speakers, including Prof. J.C. Okafor, Prof. Ebele Okoye, and Dr. Kelechukwu. The representative of the Vice Chancellor declared the meeting open, and an interactive session was held.

The interactive session, which lasted about 2 hours and 30 minutes, covered topics such as project struggles, facilities, learning environment, and school fees. Prof. Allen, HOD of Mass Communication, emphasized that learning is a continuous process and encouraged students to understand their supervisors’ perspectives.

Unfortunately, the power outage occurred during the impactful discussion, causing the program to be disrupted.

Despite assurances that the power would be restored, most attendees left after refreshments were served.The event’s abrupt end was attributed to Nigeria’s poor power supply, which affects various aspects of life and development.
