Federal Polytechnic, Oko, accepts partnership with Actors Guild of Nigeria

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has indicated interest to partner Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra state, in order to develop and empower students, who are talented in acting.

This was revealed by the National President of AGN, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, when he led the executive of AGN on a courtesy call to the rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, in her office.

Dr. Ejezie stated that the group came to felicitate with the rector on her 100 days in office, and to unveil their partnership plan to her.

Ejezie, who is an alumnus of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, acknowledged that a lot of changes had taken place in the polytechnic within a few weeks of the current administration and commended the rector for the good work she is doing.

On the issue of partnership, he stated: “I believe that if we partnered very well, we could bring other celebrities to come to promote the polytechnic. A lot of things will change.”

He revealed that they had sought to establish such partnership with past administration of the polytechnic, but that it couldn’t materialise. He appreciated Dr. Awuzie for showing interest in the partnership.

He consequently presented to the rector, Nollywood Empowerment for students in addition to other gift items.

The rector, in her remarks, welcomed the AGN, and expressed happiness that the guild was led by an alumnus of the school. She appreciated their solidarity and support, and promised to connect any student, who expressed interest in acting to the AGN.

Dr. Awuzie acknowledged that education does not end in the classroom, and that performance act is also educative as it promotes values, culture and social orientation.

She admitted that people have their hobbies and interests in different areas, and could become unique if they developed it. She accepted the partnership, and promised to support it.
