Anambra Market Executive Brainstorm To Provide Preventive Measures Against Fire Outbreak ….Endorsed Governor Soludo’s Re-election Bid

The Executive of Sokoto Road Market, Onitsha South Local Government Area led by Chief Emeka Mbachu, a.k.a Isimmili, has brainstorm to provide preventative measures against fire outbreak and other bordering issues, stated that they don’t want such thing to befall the market.

The meeting which was for all the Chairmen and Secretaries of all the Plazas in the market was according to Chief Mbachu to discuss three agendas, preventive measures against fire outbreak, endorsement of Governor Charles Soludo re election and the recent IGR increment to the traders.

In their separate speeches the Chairman of Excellent Plaza, Michael Obojiofor and the chairman of one love plaza pointed out that since it is obvious that electricity is the cause of fire outbreak in the markets, it is necessary for all the Plazas to have fire extinguisher each and central control switch which must be off after the day activities.

They also stated that another cause of fire outbreak is the indiscriminate littering of smoked cigarettes and Indian hemb by the markets security men, charged all chairmen to strictly warn his security men to desist from such act that would cause fire disaster in the market.

In her remark, the market treasurer Mrs Vero Asika, reiterated that the Governor has done so well especially on roads, cited the construction of roads in Okpoko, Sokoto Road and ongoing New market Road, saying that the governor no longer need to be campaigned for because his outstanding achievements have said it all.

Contributing, One of the market stakeholder, Elder Ezeifeanyi Chukwu on the recent increment on IGR emphasized that the governor is judiciously using the generated funds from Ndi Anambra, expressed his joy and astonishment over the dual carriage way at Ekwulobia, Aguata LG, pointed out that the Governor must be re-elected for further infrastructural development in the state.

The Vice Chairman of the market, Eng.Uchechukwu Okoli charged them to implement what was being discussed, noting that making laws are not the problem but implementation, added that people don’t learn from what happened to others until they fall victim, appealed that the preventive measures should be a take home for each of them.

In an interview with the Market Chairman, he pointed out that the major three agendas for the meeting was to discuss and have a preventive measures against fire outbreak in their market, stated that what happened last time at Ifejika Street was heartbroken, felt for the victims and prayed that such would never reoccur anywhere, stated that it is their reason for the meeting.

He further mentioned that the endorsement of Governor Soludo and the recent increment on the market IGR which is as the result of the local government independent, he disclosed that the LG IGR is #12,000 added to the #20,000 for the state which amounted to #32,000.

“Some are complaining about the recent increment while others maintained that since they can attest to the achievements of Governor Soludo, they would pay it for the good job he is doing.

“Governor Soludo has constructed all the access roads and the roads around our market, Moore Street, Iweka Road, Niger Street, Haruna Street, it remain Bida road which I believe he would do as well.

On his effort to garner votes for the Governor come Nov.8 guber election.Chief Mbachu maintained that it is not his first time, that he always delivers his market and ward at his hometown Mbaukwu, Awka South to APGA, disclosed his recent meeting with the Deputy Governor, Onyekachukwu Ibezim which was to congratulate and inform him of his plan to host his ward’s executive.

Chief Mbachu reiterated Governor Soludo’s exemplary leadership by naming the roads to the Anambra airport after his successor Governor Willie Obiano as “Obiano Boulevard”, noting it signifies unity, respect and understanding, showing his leadership qualities.

He thanked the Mayor of Onitsha South Local Government, Hon.Chief Emeka Orji for his doggedness which is attracting developmental strides in the area, pledged for his unalloyed support to his administration.

He also emphasized on the heap of sand at Niger Street road Niger Street road, appealed to the Mayor, to intervene for long lasting of the road saying that if care is not taken, it would amount to damages against the 20 years guarantee by the governor.

The outcome of the meeting was that each plaza must have four fire extinguisher and highpoint of the meeting was an endorsement of the governor’s reelection by the traders who spoke with one voice on the achievements of the governor, vowed to re-elect him for continuity.
