Nababa Retires as CG of Nigeria Correctional Service, Nwakuche Appointed Acting CG

Haliru Nababa, the outgoing Controller-General (CG) of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), officially retired on Friday after reaching the mandatory retirement age. President Bola Tinubu has appointed Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as the Acting CG, effective December 15, 2024, following Nababa’s retirement. At a Pulling Out Parade held in his honor in Abuja, Nababa reflected on his memorable career, which began in 1990, and highlighted his inclusive management style, which fostered collaboration with stakeholders and led to improvements in areas such as security, logistics, healthcare, staff training, and inmate welfare. Nababa also urged his colleagues to maintain integrity and resist actions that could tarnish the reputation of the Service. Nwakuche, previously the Deputy Controller-General in charge of Training and Staff Development, holds the national honor of MFR and is a fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
