2025: Group to begin grassroots mobilization in Anambra communities

A Support Group in Anambra State known as 21 over 21 will begin mobilization and sensitization of citizens at the grassroots level ahead of the 2025 governorship election in the state.
This was made known at a separate stakeholders’ meeting in Dunukofia and Awka South Local Government Areas of the State, during the weekend.
Briefing Journalists after their meeting in Ukpo, Coordinator of the group in Dunukofia LGA, Hon Basil Anika, said their agenda is to support candidate with genuine interest for the state.

According to him, “We don’t have any particular candidate for this election yet. What we are trying to do now is to put our house in proper order as well as mobilize new members that would champion our cause.
“We don’t want somebody that is self centered and forgets the plight of the people after victory in the election.”
Anika who said the group has over eight thousand members in Dunukofia with structures spread across the 14 wards, noted that the approach would be grassroot sensitization to boost participation in the area.
His counterpart in Awka South, Anthony Nwosu said that the group does not have interest in money or candidate but to ensure that the right candidate that will pilot the affairs of the state is elected.
Okoye, during their meeting at Nkwelle Awka, disclosed that the support group also comprises of some former ward chairmen and executives of All Progressive Grand Alliance, who were instrumental for the 21 over 21 re-election victory of former governor Willie Obiano and election of Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo in the last elections.
He said the group has found the need to save the state from being dragged back to the old days of violence, ethnocentric politics, maladministration and lack of human capital development witnessed in the state.
He also said they have resolved to go back to their various wards to ensure a resounding victory in the next election.
