2024 Anambra State Iri Ji Festival: Soludo Urges Ndigbo To Uphold Culture Of Farming

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has called on Ndị Igbo to uphold and preserve their culture of farming to feed as a panacea to reducing food prizes in the markets.

Governor Soludo made the call at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka during the official unveiling of the 2024 iri ji festival, and emphasized that the Igbo culture of hardwork is the bedrock of the society.

The Governor called for the preservation and promotion of the cultural values of the Igbo, saying that they are critical to national development, being the essence of Ndị Igbo.

He described it as the foundation on which values, beliefs, and norms are built and stressed on the imperative of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage for posterity.

Governor Soludo enjoined the people of Anambra State and ndị Igbo in general, to embrace their culture, and not forget their roots, as it would help them to weather the challenges that come their way, describing the event as a significant way of showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the people.

The Commissioner for Tourism, Culture and Entertainment, Mr. Don Onyenji said that the event is an important way of showcasing the culture and traditions for the benefit of the younger generation.

Highpoint was masquerade and dance parade by local government areas as well as yam size competition to which Anaocha local government area emerged winner with the biggest yam and went home with three million naira and a tricycle.

Anaocha Local Government Area will be winning the prize for the second time in a row.
