One of the nation’s seasoned diplomats, who has served Nigeria on foreign missions, Orefo Nnamdi Onochie, has advocated that the best bet for a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction is in 2023, stating that it is not just for the sake of equity and fair play and Justice but based on the reasonings that an Igbo man at the helm of affairs is capable of using his ingenuity to salvage Nigeria from its present economic woes.

Orefo Nnamdi Onochie who has also indicated an interest in the 2023 Presidential race made the assertion while speaking at the event of tributes to late Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu(rtd), held at Enugu Sports Club on Tuesday, October 12. Onochie who said Ndigbo should remain focused on the Nigerian project called for more commitment from the Igbo nation in the struggle for the next President of Nigeria.

He said at no other time that the ingenuity of an Igbo man as civilian head of state is needed than in 2023, emphasizing that the Igbos have the intellectual, managerial and entrepreneurial ability to weather the storm of Nigeria’s present economic woes and re-channel the nation on the part of economic progress.

Speaking to newsmen thereafter,Onochie lamented that the worst legacy the administration of President Buhari is bequeathing to Nigerian’s is the policy of continuous borrowing to sustain the economy.

He disclosed that there are many rich Nigerians whose wealth can be engaged to re invent the nation’s economy. He said if himself or any other Igbo man is elected as President of Nigeria in 2023, they will devise some of these strategies and inititiatives to revive the nations economy and must stop borrowing.

He assured me he is capable to rule Nigeria, for the better.

In a chat with newsmen, the chairman of the organizing committee on tribute in honour of late Ndubuisi Kanu in Enugu, Comrade Chuks Ibegbu said the committee tasked themselves and made sacrifices in organising the Enugu state chapter day of tributes in honour of Ndubuisi Kanu because the National organizing committee of his burial for reasons he could not tell did not include Enugu among the centres, where he will be honoured. But his committee recognizing the fact that he was great Igbo, chose to honour him in Enugu, which is the capital of the Igbo nation, just as they did for late Odimegwu Chukwuemeka Ojukwu and late Colonial Achuzia.
