Five Governors of the South East, some Ministers and Senators as well as over fifteen gubernatorial aspirants for Anambra State governorship election will grace the 2021 Awka Diocesan synod this Saturday at Nawfia, Njikoka local government area Anambra state.
This was disclosed on Sunday by the Awka Diocesan synod central planning committee during a press briefing with a team of journalists in Awka.
The Nawfia 2021 synod local organizing committee Chairman, Mr. Obinna Etele, who announced this assured the readiness of the host community. He stressed that a lot of commitment had been made towards the success of the event by the entire Nawfia community.
www.odogwublog.com reports that the Chairman of the synod central planning committee, Dr. Emma Ezenwaji announced that the 2021 synod will take place from Friday, May 7 to Sunday May 9, 2021, at the St. Michael’s and All Angel’s Anglican Church, Nawfia.
He said the event with theme, “Expanding Our Ministerial Coast”, drawn from Luke 5 1-13. He noted that the theme of the event will be ex-rayed and harnessed during the synod.
The central committee chairman also announced that the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim’s Presidential address will be read on Saturday, being the second day of the programme.
Ezenwaji also noted that the synod will be declared open with the opening service and plenary session to discuss important things as it concerns the diocese, Anglican community and the entire country.
Also speaking, the Clerical synod secretary, Venerable C. C. Mgbemena said that the annual event will be a remarkable one. He said the programme is organized to bring the entire diocese, Anglican community and children of God together to thank God for his mercies.
Host Archdeacon and Vicar, St. Michael’s and All Angel’s Anglican Church, Nawfia, Venerable Ifeanyi Umeh, assured that the three days programme will be ranked the greatest gathering of Anglican community in Awka Diocese.
He said that the synod anticipates to welcome over a 100 bishops and delegates from the 89 Parishes and 17 Archdeaconries that made up the Awka Diocese.
www.odogwublog.com reports further that, Nawfia Archdeacon’s wife, Lovelyn Ifeanyi-Umeh said the women in the Archdeaconry and beyond had been mobilized and are ready for the event. She said that the women are ready to enlarge their coast as the synod will be extra ordinary in the history of the Diocese.
Also, the Chairman of the Diocesan Protocol, Sir Sunny Nwaorah Okoye assured that security arrangements have been made to ensure peaceful conduct of the synod and safety of life.
Lending his voice, Sir Nworah Etele, the chairman of the previous synod hosted by Nawfia Anglican Community urged the Anglican faithful and members of the host community to pray, work and support the church for the success of the synod.
